Velvet Leaf

One of our favorite eco-clothing finds of the moment is sister team Velvet Leaf. Velvet Leaf identifies itself as "a sustainable clothing company."

How sustainable exactly do you ask? Well, their wears are all ECO SKAL certified, 100% organic cotton and they "manufacture with certified factories that use low wastage dyes, fair labor, and sustainable packaging"...could they be more eco-conscious right now?

Here is a preview of their Fall/Winter 2008 collection. I love the black and white striped pants! The attention to detail is also quite impressive, especially in their jackets and cuffs.

Be sure to visit Velvet Leaf for more pics and store information.

Knitta

I came across a Knitta piece on the street a few weeks ago and it brought a huge smile to my face.

Who said sweaters were only for people and pets?

Leftover knitting scraps were the inspiration for Knitta, a global street/guerilla art group originating in Texas.

Want to join the group...visit Knitta for more information.

Dreamlike Landscapes

A recent trip to Etsy.com produced this amazing photography. Digital photography and painting are merged to produce elusive qualities of time and space.

Labokoff has a blog and of course an Etsy.com shop, which you can visit here.

Pop-Out™ Jewelry

I first ran into Melissa Borrell’s Pop-Out™ jewelry at a gallery shop last week. What a find!

Our favorite is this gold plated pendant.

Not only are Melissa Borrell's pendants and earrings impeccably designed, but also their packaging is AMAZING! For example, the pieces just pop out and detach from their packaging, how ingenious! We also really love the colors; very eye catchy.

New pics from Riffe Raff - Summer '08

Here are a few pics from Riffe Raff’s new card collection. The cards are hand screenprinted using water based inks. All of the cards are produced on 100% recycled cardstock from French Paper. Shannon tells use that French Paper is “a family owned paper mill in Michigan powered by water."

We love Shannon's patterns! Be sure to check out her blog and her Esty shop.

Organic Chocolate Beauty

Sweet Beauty products are made with fair trade organic chocolate. The line utilizes several other naturally produced ingredients such as black raspberry oil, cherry oil and pomegranate seed oil. Sounds more like a smoothie than decadent beauty products.

What could be more indulgent or luxurious than something chocolate everyday for your body?

Abstract Artist - Emilie Rondeau

We have appreciated Emilie Rondeau's work for some time now and it is about time that we gush about her work some more.

C, 24"x30"

Rondeau is a Canadian artist who is greatly influenced by notions of space, both physical and psychological. From her statement: "My art often deals with the duality of opposite concepts and ideas on an aesthetic and literal level. This is a very fine line of where many tensions emerge. I am a reporter of my time. I map spaces. I investigate personal and collective spaces, natural as well as constructed. I take different points of view, grounded or aerial, to transform and translate places, to question reality. I celebrate the everyday life and its inner beauty. I am glorifying the banal. Architecture devices fascinate me. Objects and light become mine. I mix and shift boundaries of mediums and logistic precepts."

Ronds bleus sur tableau noir, 24"x30"

Rondeau will be at the annual Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibit in the heart of downtown Toronto, at Nathan Phillips Square. If you are in the city, this is a must!

Jessica Jensen - Fall Preview

Jessica Jensen is a fashion director turned designer who debuted her first collection for spring/summer '08.

We want every piece in her collection, absolutely beautiful, functional and chic.

The philosophy behind the brand: “I believe in a sensible approach to fashion. I understand that my customers desire practical and uncomplicated designs that are equally luxurious. Furthermore, I know that my customers have a modern day attitude with a value for tradition. I am inspired by the classics, but maintain a fresh perspective in design aesthetic. I highlight basics with carefully selected leathers and an infusion of delicate detailing.”

Jessica Jensen is certainly a rising star and a designer to watch. Here are a few pieces from her fall '08 collection.
